POLICE have released CCTV after a woman was robbed in her home in Ashton.

Shortly after 2.30pm on Thursday, January 10 a man sneaked into a woman’s flat on Katherine Street through the front door which was unlocked.

The offender hid in the woman’s bedroom and when she came into the room he jumped out and grabbed her by the shoulders. He then dragged her into the living room and pushed her to the floor, before demanding that she hand over her money.

The offender made off with the woman’s purse in the direction of Manchester Road.

Detective Chief Inspector Jo Reid from GMP’s Tameside borough said: “Luckily the woman was not seriously injured but this was a terrifying robbery, and the woman has been left incredibly shaken by the ordeal.

“We are doing everything we can to support the victim, and we have a team of detectives dedicated to finding the man responsible.

“Please take a close look at this CCTV, and if you know who this man is, or if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, then get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
