THE next Mahdlo Business Breakfast will take place on Tuesday, March 29 when the guest speaker will be philanthropist Bill Holroyd.

It will be an opportunity to find out more about the founder of Oldham-based foodservice distribution company Holroyd Meek and hear more about his varied career from hotel management and working for Trusthouse Forte’s supply division to setting up his own firm.

By 1994 Bill had grown the company to £190 million turnover serving more than 7,000 restaurants across the UK which he eventually sold to Booker in 1995 and started his own investment company and has invested in more than 25 start-up and second stage companies including Millie’s Cookies and AO World.

He is now one of Britain’s most active and prominent philanthropists – and founder of OnSide Youth Zones, the charity behind the building of Mahdlo and other Youth Zones across the country.

Sponsored by Ideal Unified Communications the event starts at 8:45am at the Egerton Street centre, is free to attend and open to all business owners, leaders, managers, entrepreneurs and students from across Oldham.

Lucy Lees, deputy chief executive at Mahdlo, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Bill back to Oldham to share his amazing story with our guests and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and philanthropists.”

Claire Crossfield, development manager at Mahdlo added: “We would like to thank Bill for giving up his time to come to Mahdlo for the event.

“As a charity we are asking if guests would consider making a voluntary donation of £5 upon arrival or at time of booking.

“This donation would be used to provide a year’s free membership for a young person who in in care or who otherwise could not afford it.”
