THE following cases have been dealt with at Tameside Magistrates’ Court.

ON Thursday, January 31, The Oldham Times incorrectly reported that Mark Newman, aged 47, of Thomas Street, Lees, had admitted a charge of assault.

In fact, the charge was dismissed on the day of the case. He received a 12-month conditional discharge and an order to pay £864 in compensation with a £20 contribution to victim services for causing damage to a Suzuki Swift.

The Oldham Times apologises for the error.

JASON David Biggins, aged 29, of Vulcan Street, Oldham, entered Boots the Chemist in High Street, Oldham when prohibited from doing so by a criminal behaviour order made by Manchester Magistrates’ Court on December 22. Biggins was electronically tagged with a curfew for eight weeks ending on March 26 for which he must remain at home between 7pm and 7am. He must also pay £85 into victim services.

MARK Flynn, aged 29, of Allandale Drive, Royton, assaulted a man and two women by beating on November 28. Flynn must attend 29 sessions of The Building Better Relationships programme and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay £85 into victim services and £85 costs. He is also prohibited from contacting one of his victims except to arrange access to children via a third party or solicitor and is prohibited from entering 10 Amberwood, Chadderton until January 29, 2021.

JAMIE Liam Jones, aged 30, of Summervale House, Oldham, failed to comply with a community order made by Tameside Magistrates’ Court on November 22. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

CASEY Taylor Mayall, aged 20, of Werneth Hall Road, Oldham, failed to comply with a community order made by Tameside Magistrates’ Court on November 13, missing an appointment to be electronically tagged following a curfew order. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

David USHER, aged 34, of Littlemoor Lane, Oldham, failed to comply with supervision requirements following release from prison by missing planned appointments. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Greater Manchester Police have had request for the continued detention of seized cash, namely £1,040 from Aaron Barry, aged 25, of Goodwin Court, Old Lane, Chadderton, granted under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

LUIS Florin Stefan, aged 28, of Ward Street, Oldham, failed to comply with a suspended sentence order made by Tameside Magistrates’ Court on June 5, 2018, by missing unpaid work. He has now been dealt with for his original offence of failing to surrender to custody and stealing confectionary worth £1,050.95 from B&M Bargains and confectionary from Poundland, both Manchester, worth £81. A suspended sentence of four months prison suspended for 12 months has been implemented as jail sentence of 14 weeks.

LISA Duffy, aged 45, of Crossbank House, Oldham, failed to comply with a supervision order following release from prison by missing planned appointments. She was fined £50.

DAVID Robert Paul Stewart, aged 40 of Mackintosh Way, St Mary’s, stole baby accessories worth £200 from Boots, five bottles spirits worth £150 from Sainsbury’s and entered Oldham town centre when prohibited from doing so by a criminal behaviour order. He also had an offensive weapon, namely a needle, which he used to threaten another person. Steward also failed to comply with a suspended sentence order made by Tameside Magistrates’ Court on January 23, 2018 by failing notify a change of address and missed an appointment with Turning Point Drug. Steward was committed to prison for 14 days and to Minshull Street Manchester Crown Court for further sentencing.

DEAN Ryan Cutter, aged 31, of Longfield Crescent, Oldham, drove over the limit for alcohol and without insurance. He was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and to pay £85 costs and £85 to victim services. He was banned from driving until he passes his test.

MOHAMMED Wasim Ashraf, aged 38, of Heywood House, Eldon Street, Oldham, admitted carrying a kitchen knife in a public place. He was given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He has been electronically tagged and given a 16-week curfew ending on May 26, for which he must be at home from 7pm to 6am daily. Ashraf must pay £115 to victim services and £250 costs. Ashraf also failed to comply with a community order made by Tameside Magistrates’ Court on December 6, 2018 by missing induction appointments. His original offences included attempting to steal Nicorette from Boots, baby formula, alcohol and chocolate from Iceland, consumables from Home Bargans and a woman’s purse, all at Oldham.

LIAM Povey, aged 25, of Walter Mills Way, Oldham, drove dangerously, with cocaine in his blood, without insurance and without a licence. He was committed to Minshull Street Manchester Crown Court for sentencing.

MARTIN Peart, aged 50, of Florian House, Henshaw Street, Oldham, stole two bottles of hemp oil worth £6.99 each from Holland and Barratt in Oldham and entered the town centre on January 30 when banned from doing so by a criminal behaviour order. His offences were committed in the period of a d prison sentence of 12 weeks suspended for 12 months. This has now been amended to 12 weeks suspended for 18 months. Peart has been fined £80, must pay compensation of £13.98, £30 into victim services and costs of £85.
