A BOLTON MP has chaired an important debate on the future of medical research.
Chris Green MP, a former engineer in the life sciences sector, brought together industry experts, politicians, researchers and patients to discuss the importance of continued investment in the field.
As Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Medical Research and Vice-Chair of the APPG for Life Sciences, Mr Green led the debate about where funding should come from and where it should be directed.
Mr Green said: “It was fantastic to chair this joint APPG on Medical Research and APPG for Life Sciences event, which saw a wide range of organisations and groups come together to discuss the importance of medical research and the future of the field.
“During the event, we discussed the need for increasing investment in research and development and the importance of developing a skilled research and development workforce.”
The government has committed pledging to contribute 2.4 percent of GDP to the field by 2027.
