MORE than 1,000 jobs are up for grabs at Manchester Airport.

The airport is advertising for job-seekers to join them for roles at its Northern gateway, including lounge agents, drivers and security officers.

All successful candidates will then be offered full training programmes.

Brad Miller, COO at Manchester Airport, said: “The airport is gearing up for another busy summer and that means there are hundreds of jobs being created, both directly with ourselves and with the many other organisations we work with on our campus.

“It is really pleasing to see that, as we grow, so do the benefits delivered to communities and the region as a whole."

Those interested are invited to learn more about the vacancies at a jobs fair at Lancashire County Cricket Club's Point complex, from 10am to 3pm on March 7.

Also recruiting at the event are airport partner companies, including Swissport, Jet2.com, Boots, Dnata and the Clayton Hotel.

The firms will be offering a variety of jobs, from cabin crew and baggage handlers to customer service roles.

There are also a number of apprenticeships, graduate schemes and managerial roles available.

Mr Miller said: “Our last few jobs fairs have proved hugely successful with thousands of people securing work across the site and we’re looking forward to another great event this year.”

Manchester Airport is one of the biggest employers in the North West, with more than 25,000 staff.

It also supports a further 45,000 jobs across the region.

Last year was the airport's busiest ever, with a record 28 million people passing through its three terminals.
