Local photographer Mick Weall has snapped up first prize in our latest Bolton News Camera Club photography competition.
WINNER: Thurstane Street, Halliwell by Mick Weall.
Chief photographer Gus Sivyer chose the winner from more than 300 entries. The theme of the camera club competition this time was Historic Bolton and Mick’s image of Thurstane Street in Halliwell really stood out and impressed Gus.
He said “ From the moment I saw Mick’s image I knew he would be in with a chance of taking the top prize. I love the way the lines in the image lead you deeper into the cobbled backstreet and the use of high contrast black and white really gives the image a timeless atmosphere”.
Gus continued “Runner up Damien Riley also deserves a mention for his stunning image of an old man making his way past the closed Sweetens Book Shop”
