SHADOW Education Secretary Angela Rayner paid a visit to Oldham Sixth Form College to face questions on her political career so far and her hopes for the future.
Angela, MP for Ashton, Droylsden and Failsworth, was quizzed by students and staff during a session hosted by performing arts students Sujata Dey and Tommy Lax.
As the event coincided with International Women’s Day, Angela was also grilled about her thoughts on feminism and the number of female MPs in Parliament today.
She said: “It was fantastic to meet so many young people with a real interest in politics and the world around them. They asked me some truly brilliant questions and I really hope they keep hold of that interest and register to vote when the time comes.”
OSFC principal Jayne Clarke said: “We were delighted to welcome Angela for a Q&A session, hosted by our students, Sujata and Tommy, on International Women’s Day. It was inspiring to hear about her career journey and insights into the world of politics, which she presented in a really engaging way, encouraging others to follow in her footsteps.”
