OLDHAM actor Malique Thompson Dwyer, who plays Prince McQueen in the C4 soap Hollyoaks, has played a key role in a TV advert to encourage participation in the Race for Life 5K and 10K in the summer.

As part of the build-up, the advert featuring the McQueen family from Hollyoaks was screened recently during an ad break in an episode.

The advert saw Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin), Nana McQueen (Diane Langton), Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace) and Sylver McQueen (David Tag) all getting ready to take part in a Hollyoaks Race for Life event.

Anyone who would like to be in with a chance to take part in the Hollyoaks Race for Life is invited to enter a ballot, which is now open.

On the day, participants will meet Hollyoaks cast members and take part in a bespoke Race for Life event around the Hollyoaks set and in parks near to Lime Pictures’ studios in Liverpool. The one-off event will then be featured in a TV advert in the spring.

Hollyoaks’ digital team also produced a documentary featuring the cast talking about their own experiences with cancer as well as how the show has tackled the topic in storylines over the years. This was available to view on Hollyoaks’ Official Facebook page on Tuesday March 5th.

Malique said: “I’m really proud to be part of Hollyoaks’ partnership with Race for Life. It’s great that everyone can take part this year and all come together to help beat cancer. I’d love for the people of Oldham to join their local Race for Life event to raise money for Cancer Research UK. After all, if the McQueen’s can do it, anyone can.”

This year, everyone can join their local Race for Life and help raise vital money for Cancer Research UK’s research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of over 200 types of cancer affecting men, women and children.

There is a Race for Life 5k event taking place in Oldham on Sunday, June 23 at Alexandra Park, Kings Road, Oldham and a Race for Life 5k, 10k and Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course at Heaton Park, in Prestwich, Manchester on the weekend of Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14.
