A LIMOUSINE car formerly owned by Queen guitarist Brian May has been destroyed in a fire at an Oldham furniture store.
Firefighters were called to Let Us Furnish 4 U Ltd in Oldham Way at about 7pm after the 37-year-old director of the store, Daniel Martin, had left the battery of the classic Chrysler car, worth thousands of pounds, on charge.
The fire destroyed both the car and the VW box van from which the charge for the battery was being taken.
A fire service spokesman said two fire engines, and crew wearing two breathing apparatus and two hose reels were needed to put out the fire.
“The fire almost spread to the building, and the car and the box van were destroyed,” he said.
Mr Martin declined to comment.
