A LANDLORD has been fined nearly £6,000 for string of offences relating to a multi-occupancy property in Oldham.
Qaiser Hussain, aged 45, who lives in a neighbouring property in Ashton Road, was guilty of managing an unlicensed house of multi-occupation at 212-214 Ashton Road and failed to ensure his name, address and telephone number were clearly displayed in the common parts of the house.
Hussain also failed to ensure that the means of escape in the event of a fire was free from obstruction and that firefighting equipment was maintained and in good working order.
He also breached building regulations and had not electrical safety report. There were exposed wires on a kitchen light fitting.
Hussain failed to ensure common areas of the property were kept reasonably clear from obstruction when domestic waste and other items were stored there.
Inspectors also found unfixed pieces of coverings on the stairs. There was also a large amount of waste overflowing from the bins.
Hussain was fined a total of £5,940 and ordered to pay £1,700 costs and £66 into victim services. He did not attend the hearing at Tameside Magistrates’ Court.
