THE multi-Oscar winning film is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. There are some moving moments as well as a sprinkling of fine comedy. Tickets are £4. There is abundance of parking for visiting audiences and the Metrolink operates a full service to Shaw and Crompton through Oldham.

There are also regular bus services to Shaw, with the local stops on Market Street only a few metres from Playhouse 2. The services that use these stops are: 58, 59, 181, 182, 403, 404, 408, 428, 435, 982, X82.

ELDERBERRIES Coffee Morning, admission costs £2 including refreshments. Everyone is welcome, not just Elderberries. The village club has just been given a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund which has enabled it to complete the transformation of the outside of the building in Platt Lane.

THERE will be a large exhibition of quilts cushions and wall hangings, fabric dolls and machine embroidery all done in classes at Patchwork Parade in Chadderton. Admission is £3 with under-16s getting in free. There will be traders, refreshments and a charity tombola. There is disabled access.
