FIREFIGHTERS were called to a company which specialises automated machines for cash payments in Royton in the early hours of this morning (Monday, April 8) when a fluorescent lighting unit caught fire.
The blaze on the first floor of the three-storey building in New Coin Street run by Crane Payment Innovations, also known as Coin Controls International Ltd, activated the automatic fire alarm and crews from Chadderton and Oldham attended.
They used a hose reel and two breathing apparatus to deal with the fire and a positive pressure ventilation machine to clear the smoke. No-one was injured.
