A GROUP of pensioners enjoyed a day at the seaside, thanks to these Bolton schoolchildren, pictured in our photograph today. Each year, fourth formers from Smithills School treated local old folk to a trip out. And in August 1983, 29 pensioners and 20 pupils set off for Blackpool. Smithills headmaster Michael Kehoe said they organised an old people’s outing ever year with cash raised through sponsored events.
