LLK raises funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice

Oldham-based catering equipment supplier, Linda Lewis Kitchens (LLK), got ‘quizzical’ last week when they hosted a ‘Quiz, Pizza and Prosecco’ night in their head office for local charity, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

The guests were greeted with prosecco and, in true LLK style, a feast of pizza cooked by the company’s Italian Development Chef, Fabio Aurelio. They were then invited to take their seats and begin the quiz presented by local quiz master, Mark Cartwright!

Teams from local businesses all over Oldham went head-to-head to be crowned LLK’s Quiz Champion. After an intense battle of the brains, team ‘Quizzy McQuizFace’ were crowned the winners and presented with their trophies by Events Manager, Grace Carr.

With the quiz complete, it was raffle time! The fantastic raffle prizes were donated by local businesses and included a free MOT by Cunliffe Motors, a bottle of Gin donated by Pearson Solicitors, a cut and blow voucher donated by Hair by Hannah, a £40 sports massage voucher donated by Sports Physio UK amongst many, many more!

LLK’s fantastic efforts raised an astonishing total of £1,000 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice! This money will go towards the hospice’s transformation of its in-patient unit. The rebuild will provide patients with access to separate en-suite rooms with garden views, improving privacy and overall patient experience.

“Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is a charity extremely close to our hearts at LLK. It is estimated that their rebuild will cost £2.1 million and we want to do whatever we can to bring this project to life. LLK has supported Dr Kershaw’s Hospice for a number of years and we are dedicated to supporting them in any way we can. It’s an honour to host an event like this and raise money for an incredible local cause. Hopefully, this event will be the first of many!” commented Marketing and Events Manager, Grace Carr.

Lisa Buckley, Capital appeals fundraiser at Dr Kershaw’s said, “Myself and my team were overwhelmed at the attention to detail and creativity that the team at LLK had put into the evening. A great night was had by all who attended. We are so grateful to the team at LLK for the care and passion that was put into the evening to raise funds for the patients and families at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. The support of great businesses and our community help to build the Hospice’s future as we embark on our new in-patient building.”
