POLICE are investigating a moorland blaze apparently started deliberately near the Pots and Pans beauty spot near Alderman Hill, Greenfield.
Firefighters from Oldham and the wildfire unit from Stalybridge were called to the scene at about 7.40pm when two separate fires were started in a couple of two-acre acres areas of land.
It took two hours to put the blaze out.
A spokesman from Oldham fire station said the firefighting effort was helped by three fire assisted units from the Crowther's farm nearby.
"It would've taken a lot longer to deal with the blaze without the help from Crowther's," he said. "It looks like there were two seats of fire in a total area of four acres, started deliberately."
Local Alan Rigby who lives at a house close to the blaze, said: “Firefighters were in the scene very quickly."
