ARTISTS are being invited to show their work as part of an exhibition taking place in September.

Gallery Oldham has sent out the call for the town's creative community to pick up their paintbrush, fire up the kiln or get snapping with their camera. It is part of The Oldham Open 2019 showcase.

The biennial exhibition started in 2003 and has been running successfully ever since.

This year, it begins on Friday, September 20 and runs until Saturday, November 30 and is open to artists of all ages who live, work or study in Oldham.

Artists may submit one or two pieces of work to the Gallery. A variety of media, such as drawings, paintings, photographs, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, film and video will be accepted. Previous submissions will not be accepted.

Cllr Mohon Ali, deputy cabinet member for education and culture, said: "This is a great opportunity for local artists, both well-known and undiscovered, to showcase their latest masterpieces.

"It's important that we celebrate the artistic talents of Oldham residents and I look forward to seeing the chosen pieces when the exhibition opens in September."

Local artists should submit work - along with a completed entry form - between September 5 and -7 at the Gallery Oldham reception desk (from 10am to 4pm daily). Works should be delivered ready for display with any necessary fixings.
