WITH highs of 17 degrees in Bolton today, it's looking like a promising start to the May Bank Holiday weekend.

But if you had plans of getting the whole family out and about in the sunshine, you had better start thinking again as heavy rain and temperatures as low as seven degrees could be set to ruin your plans.

And while Saturday is looking mainly dry and warm, Sunday and Monday will be wet and grey according to the Met Office.

A spokesman said: "After often heavy rain clears on Sunday it will turn cooler, with some fresh winds.

"There will be bright spells and showers on Monday and Tuesday, with the risk of thunder."

Its a mixed bag too for later on in the week with long spells of rain predicted in places.

Meteorologists also predict that the changeable and rather cool weather is likely to continue into the start of June too, meaning the next two weeks could be much cooler and more unsettled than the weather we have experienced throughout May.
