1940s weekend with the ELR

The Bolton News:

THIS weekend is the annual East Lancashire Railway 1940s weekend.

Be whisked back in time with the all-singing, all-dancing vintage event.

A host of Second World War and Home Front-themed activities are set to take place along the heritage attraction’s 12-mile line.

Each of the stations, Bury’s Bolton Street, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall and Heywood; will be transformed.

There will be music, entertainment and dancing.

Hundreds of dedicated re-enactors will also be on hand, alongside famous faces including Winston Churchill and classic characters from ‘Allo ‘Allo.

To coincide with the ELR event, in Ramsbottom, the whole town will be showing the Blitz Spirit as streets and shops are given a war-years makeover.

Megastar Michael Bublé puts on a show

The Bolton News:

FILL your Sunday night with swing by nabbing one of the last few tickets to see Michael Bublé at the Manchester Arena.

Manchester is the latest leg of Bublé’s world tour which will soon cross the Atlantic to the US and Canada before he returns to Europe to wow in Austria and Italy.

The Canadian megastar is performing from 7.30pm and there are limited tickets left to see him starting at £97.

Fun day at the farmers market

The Bolton News:

ENJOY some family fun on Monday at The Last Drop Hotel and Spa.

They are hosting a farmers market from 11am with fairground rides, face painting as well as a host of craft and food stalls.

It promises to be fun for all the family with plenty to entertain and entice.

This weekend also coincides with the scarecrow trail at the hotel off Hospital Road, Bromley Cross.

IT’S not just any Bank Holiday.

This weekend Marks & Spencer is bringing back its lovely meal for two deal.

You can pick up a main, side, pudding and a bottle of wine of soft drink for a purse-friendly £12.

There are plenty of options including Marks’ “Best Ever burgers” featuring a cheesy mustard and tomato sauce and the delightfully named coronation chicken flatties. Sides include garlic bread and vegan dirty fries.

Westhoughton Family Fun Day

The Bolton News:

BEFORE the weather turns enjoy a fun day out with a family day in Westhoughton.

There will be kids games to play, a variety of stalls, ice cream, crazy golf and much more.

Adults can enjoy a drink at the bar and live singers.

It takes place today at Westhoughton Golf Club from 12.30pm to 4pm.

All proceeds will go to raise money for The Alzheimer's Society.
