THREE people were arrested following a 'large scale disturbance' at a community centre.

Police were called to the Pakistani Community Centre on Malborough Street, Glodwick, just after 9pm last night.

A believed to be in his early 20s was assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of police assault and violent disorder.

They all remain in custody for questioning.

Chief Inspector John Haywood, of GMP’s Oldham division, said: “We are responding to a large scale disturbance at the Pakistani community centre and as such there is a visible scene currently in place.

“Whilst enquiries are very much in their early stages, I would like to reassure those with concerns that we are working hard with both partners and the local community to piece together exactly what has happened.

“I would ask anyone with information to please get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity. We’re aware of videos circulating on social media, so are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have recorded footage as the incident unfolded.
