ONE hundred years young Betty Hughes had an absolute ball at a party in her honour organised by a her pals at the Broadbent Luncheon Club in Oldham.
About 40 members of the club along with Oldham mayor Ginny Alexander attended the event last Wednesday when, the day before Failsworth born and bred Betty reached her centenary.
Members of the club put on a mini picture exhibition of events that have taken place throughout Betty's life.
Cinthia Mangini, her friend for 50 years, told The Oldham Times: "Betty was a remarkable woman. She was cracking jokes and was the life and soul of the party.
"The mayor is also a lovely person and she also had a great time. It was a really nice day."
Cinthia and Betty first became friends as colleagues at the Ferranti and then later at Littlewoods.
