FIREFIGHTERS were called to a terraced home in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, June 25) after a washing machines caught fire, filling the Oldham terraced home with acrid smoke.
The middle-aged couple living in the home in Brunswick Street, Shaw, escaped the blaze before crews from Oldham and Chadderton arrived at about 1.30am..
Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour. The fire is believed to have started when a tea-towel ignited.
