A NEW bus company has announced plans to invest £3 million in improvements for passengers in the next 12 months, including a fleet of new buses.
Go North West (GNW), a newly created arm of transport giant Go Ahead Group, held its grand launch event on Tuesday where it revealed ambitious proposals which will focus primarily on vehicle and depot improvements.
Also unveiled at the launch was the company’s latest double-decker hybrid buses.
In the coming months the operator is to start work on replacing its 24-year-old single-deck buses — around half of its fleet — with 24 newer ones.
The launch follows the acquisition of the Queens Road depot in Manchester from First Group earlier this year.
GNW launched its first services last month.
David Brown, Go-Ahead Group chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have begun serving customers in Greater Manchester, and are committed to growing bus use, helping tackle road congestion and improve air quality."
