IT’S official ­— Trafford has 11 of the best parks in the world!

Eleven parks across Trafford have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme. Davyhulme Park this year joins 10 other parks which have maintained their prestigious Green Flag status.

The parks were judged on eight main criteria points including, ease of access, maintenance, biodiversity and landscape features and community involvement.

They are are among a record-breaking 1,970 UK parks and green spaces that will receive a Green Flag Award. The award, accompanied by the famous flag, is a mark of a quality park or green space.

The winning parks are Davyhulme Park, Denzell Gardens, Flixton Gardens, Hullard Park, John Leigh Park, Lostock Park, Victoria Park, Walkden Gardens, Walton Park, Woodheys Park and Worthington Park.

Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Jane Baugh said: "We are so incredibly delighted and proud that Davyhulme Park joins the growing list of Trafford’s Green Flag Awarded parks. Green spaces play an integral part in making Trafford a great place to live, work and relax.”

Chair of Friends of Davyhulme Park, Liz Miller said: “We could not be prouder of the Friends of Davyhulme Park today. This park has been the centre of the Urmston community for decades, has a rich history and is still loved by the new generation. To be able to fly the Green Flag is a huge honour but we feel that its so well deserved.”

This international award is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards.
