Saturday and Sunday (August 10 & 11), The Yanks are Back in Saddleworth, Saddleworth School, High Street, Uppermill, 12noon to 3pm.

The annual military show and vehicle parade returns to the villages of Uppermill in Saddleworth. The event brings a wide selection of fabulous 1940s entertainment, historical displays and much much more…

Admission prices adults £6; children five to 16 years £3; veterans free and re-enactors free with a pre-booked wristband. A family ticket is available at £15 for two adults and two under 16s.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the Hollywood movie “YANKS” in 1979 starring Richard Gere. Many locations in Uppermill and neighbouring Dobcross were used in the film.

Oldham Model Areo Club Warbirds Open Day

Oldham Model Aero Club are having an open day with a second world war aircraft or warbird theme to commemorate 75 years since the end of the war and victory in Europe. There will be flying displays from scale model aircraft and the event will be open to the public to help raise awareness of model fling in Oldham. They will be offering free buddybox flying lessons and also FPV flying experience.

Farmers Market in the museum's community gallery and possibly stalls outside. Free.

Farmers Markets organised by the “Friends” of the Museum. Currently every second Sunday in the month. Free entry. One stall/gazebo sometimes outside the museum entrance with other stalls inside the community gallery. Products can change but there are usually breads, cheeses, olives, teas, coffees and chocolates often of high “artisan” quality. Well worth a visit.
