THE delighted organisers of Cottonclouds are celebrating the success of another stunning festival in Saddleworth at the weekend.

Despite an initial downturn in weather, more than 7,000 happy partygoers enjoyed two sensational days of spectacular acts and stood in awe of a parade of colourful costumes at the event.

And the organisers, the brothers Rick and Max Lees, complimented the crowds who flocked in their thousands to join them in singalongs on the site with Peter Hook, Ash and Alabama 3.

Said Rick Lees: “The rain on Friday really tested us. We endured 12 hours of rain but it didn’t dampen spirits of music lovers.

“The weather cleared on Saturday and the site held strong after the rain - and miraculously there was practically no mud.”

Local bands opened proceedings and later the audience were treated to mass singalongs with The Reverend and The Makers.

“We welcome the biggest crowd we've ever had in the afternoon sunshine and have received countless reviews since," said Rick.

“We’ll take stock over the next few weeks while looking forward to making plans for the future.

“Attendance was up on last year so it was a step in the right direction.

“Cottonclouds would like to say a huge thank you all the artists, crew and attendees at the event,” he added.
