STUDENTS and staff joined together to celebrate the excellent results achieved by the class of 2019 at The Radclyffe School in Oldham. There was plenty of tears of joy as the hard work of students was rewarded by some incredible results.

The headline data is: Seventy-five per cent of students achieving grades 4+ in GCSE English (54 per cent achieving 5+ grades up by 2 per cent); 73 per cent of students achieving grade 4+ in GCSE Maths up by 3% (49 per cent achieving 5+ grades); 63 per cent of students achieved grades 4+ in both English and Maths (39 per cent achieving 5+ grades in both); 48 per cent of all grades were grades 9-5 (up by 5 per cent); Attainment 8 score 45.1 (up by 2.1 points); 58 per cent of students achieved a 4-9 grades in at least two Sciences (up by 4 per cent); 19 per cent of all grades awarded were the very top grades 7-9 (up 4 per cent).

Other high achieving subjects were: Art 91 per cent 4-9 grades (37 per cent 7-9 grades up 2 per cent), drama 88% 4-9 grades (24 per cent 7-9 grades); photography 95 per cent 4-9 grades (30 per cent 7-9 grades); religious studies 86 per cent 4-9 grades up 10 per cent (42 per cent 7-9 grades); sports studies 85 per cent 4-9 grades; textiles 74 per cent 4-9 grades up 6 per cent (18 per cent 7-9 grades); food and nutrition 68 per cent 4-9 grades (13 per cent 7-9 grades).

There were some exceptional individual performances with Nahian Ahmed topping the list with 10 7-9 grades (9 at grade 9, 1 at grade 8). Mohammed Lukhman also achieved ten 7-9 grades (five at grade 9, 5 at grade 8) as did Mahfuza Zannath (four at grade 9, four at grade 8 and two at grade 7).

Ayeza Akhtar was another high achiever with nine 7-9 grades (six at grade 9, three at grade 8). Muhammad Amjad also achieved nine grades 7-9 (four at grade 9, four at grade 8 and one at grade 7). Other students to achieve nine 7-9 grades were Salman Khan, Sharmin Rahman, Ayra Ali, Farzana Begum and Head Girl Sarah Nazir.

Headteacher Hardial Hayer said, “Our students have achieved some outstanding results this year. Their achievements show that anything is possible at The Radclyffe School.

"Each year our students exceed all expectations and deliver excellent results. It is particularly pleasing to see a tremendous increase in grades 7-9 and in particular an increase of 4% at grade 9 which is awarded to a small fraction of students in the country as a whole. I am absolutely delighted that our fantastic students have achieved these wonderful results.
