A MAN had to be cut free from a car by firefighters following a road smash.

The two-car collision happened in Dukes Brow, in Blackburn, shortly after midnight today.

A man in his 40s was cut free out of one of the cars and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars shortly after midnight in Dukes Brown, Blackburn.

"Two crews, one from Blackburn and another from Accrington attended, and we cut one man in his 40s out of a car.

"He was taken to hospital with minor injuries."
