Wanderers chairman Sharon Brittan has said thank you to Bolton fans after they rushed to snap up season tickets.

Approaching 8,000 had been sold late on Thursday, details of the Football Ventures offering only having been confirmed at 6pm on Monday.

Brittan was delighted with the uptake and paid tribute to a fanbase that feared for the very future of their football club before her consortium’s takeover was completed a fortnight ago.

“This is the power of football,” she told The Bolton News

“The fans have been through so much. They feel like they’ve been hurt and they’ve been trodden on and they feel disgruntled with the club and they feel downbeat and they feel sad.

“Then two weeks after completion there’s 8,000 people who have bought season tickets and for me that is football.

“Thank you, thank you, a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you that have supported us and bought season tickets.

“We will do everything we can to make you proud.”

Brittan says there was plenty to ponder when deciding on pricing with a handful of games already played and one – against Doncaster Rovers – postponed over fears about the welfare of the young players thrust into action when the club was in a state of flux.

Wanderers are offering the chance to watch all home games after and including the October 7 meeting with Blackpool for £216 in the North Stand Upper and Lower, or £12.71 a match.

Under-23s and Over-75s will pay £143 throughout all areas of the University of Bolton Stadium, equating to £8.41 a match.

Under-18s season tickets are priced at £57 in all areas, or £3.35 per match with under-12s at £42, or £2.47 a match.

Family tickets in the North Stand Upper for one adult and one Under-18 cost £250, or £14.71 a match.

“We took careful consideration over season tickets,” the chairman said.

“We all know the fans have had a very difficult time and there was a game missed last season, a game missed this season, and we wanted to make sure the price was a fair reflection of where we are today.

“We’re not in the perfect place but we’re a lot better than we were two weeks ago and as we go forward that will get better and get stronger and the fans will see what we’re doing.

“It’s great to talk but I also think it’s great to deliver and I think that’s what we’ve got to do now.”
