SEPTEMBER 21: St Paul's Church, Church Street, Royton, 2pm to 4pm, performance by The Voice (Community Choir) in aid of the church restoration fund which is aiming to raise £80,000 to replace the roof of the 250-year-old building. SEPTEMBER 24: Springhead Liberal Club, Oldham Road, Springhead, It's not Rocket Science, general knowledge quiz at Springhead Liberal Club, 8.30pm, £3 per person including raffle and stand up bingo. Proceeds to Dr Kershaws and Oldham Branch of the MS Society.

SEPTEMBER 25: Hotel Smokies Park, Ashton Road, Bardsley, a free MS Information Evening for anyone affected by the illness, 7pm. An opportunity to learn about the support offered by the Oldham Branch of the MS Society and the financial support and various therapies on offer. Refreshments will be available.

SEPTEMBER 26: Playhouse 2, Newtown Street, Shaw, educational documentary by Mercurial Pictures, 7.30pm. Harry is a boy who makes it to secondary school unable to read or write - an issue which has affected generations of Harry's family. The question is can Harry's dedicated teacher help him to overcome this and help him believe a better future is achievable? SEPTEMBER 27: Macmillan Coffee Day, hosted by Lilian Day at 35 Pennine View, Royton, from 10.30am to 4pm.

SEPTEMBER 27: Greenacres Congregational Church, (church hall) Galland Street, Oldham, zumba and pilates classes (30 minutes each) starting at 10am. Class taken by experienced instructor at £4.50 per person session. Class is small and friendly.

SEPTEMBER 28: Macmillan Coffee Morning, Oldham Parish Church, 9.30am to 1pm. Various stalls including bric a brac and books. Light refreshments are available. Tours of the crypt every half hour.
