WARRINGTON market is supporting a national high street shopping campaign promoting independent retailers and providing bargain offers for shoppers.

Warrington, along with over 40 other towns across the UK, is backing the Totally Locally National Fiver Fest, which runs from October, to encourage shoppers to visit their local market, town centre and high streets to take advantage of lots of £5 promotional offers.

All of the market traders will be taking part by putting on special £5 deals for the duration of the campaign.

Keep a look out for posters around the market and online, promoting all of the individual fiver deals on offer.

Fiver Fest is encouraging shoppers to spend their money locally.

If every adult in Warrington spent just £5 a week at their local independent shops and businesses, instead of online or at big supermarkets or chain stores, it would be worth around £40 million to the local economy.

Council leader, cllr Russ Bowden, said: “We are investing in the future of our town centre with the multi-million pound Time Square development. This includes a brand new indoor market and food hall which will provide opportunities for independent retailers to grow their businesses in Warrington. Initiatives like Fiver Fest are a great opportunity to promote local retailers and encourage shoppers to spend their money locally and support smaller businesses.

“There will be some fantastic bargains for shoppers to take advantage of throughout Fiver Fest and the £5 spent with an independent retailer is often re-invested locally through local suppliers.

"Small actions like this can make a huge impact when lots of people come together and we encourage other independent retailers across Warrington to get involved in the campaign, giving customers even more reasons to shop in Warrington.”
