FIREFIGHTERS turned out to a house in Hathershaw last night (Monday, October 7) after a nail pierced a gas pipe in botched DIY project.
The crew from Hollins was called to a mid-terraced house in Ashton Road at 8.20pm when gas started leaking from the pipe. A man and child, who were in the property at the time were safely evacuated as firefighters isolated the gas supply before engineers were called out to carry out a repair. No-one was injured.
