OCTOBER 27: Greenacres Congregational Church, Altrincham Methodist Church's NO Strings Puppet Ministry will perform at the morning service, starting at 10.45am.

The puppet ministry uses puppets to illustrate the Christian message in an unusual and entertaining way. Their performances are suitable for adults and children.

OCTOBER 29: Springhead Liberal Club, general knowledge quiz "It's Not Rocket Science", 8.30pm. £3 per person including raffle and stand-up bingo in aid of Dr Kershaw's Hospice and Oldham Branch of the MS Society.

NOVEMBER 2: Sacred Heart Centre, High Street, Uppermill, One World Christmas Fair, 10am to 4pm. Fairly traded gifts, crafts, jewellery, foods and cards from Oxfam, Traidcraft and more. Books. Refreshments all day. Proceeds to Cafod and Christian Aid.

NOVEMBER 2: Trinity Methodist Church, Royton, Concert, 2pm by Oldham Youth Choir, The Candymen, Ralph and Tilly and Just Zoe. Tickets £5 for adults, under-12s £3 (accompanied), including refreshments, available from Trinity's Thursday coffee mornings between 9.15am and 11.30am or pay on the door. Proceeds in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal..

NOVEMBER 2: East Oldham Methodist Church, Ripponden Road, Watersheddings, Afternoon Tea and Musical Entertainment, 2pm to 4pm with bring and buy gifts. Free admission with all proceeds will go towards providing a defibrillator for the local community.

NOVEMBER 17: St Anne's Parish Hall, Broadway, Royton, Christmas Fair, 11.15am to 2.30pm. Stalls, games, cafe and Father Christmas. Admission 50p, children free.

NOVEMBER 23: St Anne's Church, St Anne's Avenue, Royton, an evening of brass and song with Boarshurst Silver Band and Kershaw's Krooners, 7.30pm. Adults £8, children £5 including seasonal refreshments. All proceeds to Dr Kershaw's Hospice and church.
