BOLTON Wanderers’ legend Tony Kelly is playing a starring role — in a new music video.

Tony, who helped the Whites to secure promotion in the 1992-93 season, is appearing alongside three Bolton College students in the film to accompany the track, ‘See You There’, by band Solomon Grey.

Students from the college have been tasked with creating the video, which has been remixed by London-based music producer and remixer, Hectic.

The Bolton News:

Performing arts tutor Kyle Cambray, who is directing the video, is a lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan and season-ticket holder.

He approached Bolton Wanderers, who agreed that the University of Bolton Stadium could be used as the main filming location.

In the video, performing arts student Lewis Magee plays an aspiring young footballer, who takes the winning penalty for the club.

Tony Kelly, who works for Bolton Wanderers Community Trust and is a Club Ambassador, plays the part of Lewis’s manager.

The Bolton News:

Fellow students Kiyra Green and Harry Dobson respectively star as Lewis’s love interest and the goalkeeper.

Tony said: “I have enjoyed the experience of starring in the video and working with the students. I would like to wish Lewis, Kiyra and Harry all the best in the future with their careers.

“I am now looking forward to being nominated for a BAFTA for my performance!”

Over the past two weeks, footage has been filmed by the college’s theatre teechnician, Edd Lewis, at the University of Bolton Stadium and Wanderers’ training ground, the Eddie Davies Academy.

The Bolton News:

Filming culminates this Saturday, with the final scene taking place at Wanderers’ Emirates FA Cup First Round match against Plymouth Argyle.

During the half-time interval, Lewis will take the penalty, in front of the Wanderers home crowd.

Bolton College already has strong links with the club, being part of the University of Bolton Group, and also delivers football training, as part of its partnership with Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.

Kyle said: “I’d like to thank Bolton Wanderers for giving us this amazing opportunity. They have been so helpful, and really supported the project.

“Tony is great in his role, he’s a natural. We’re looking forward to filming on Saturday, and I’ll be so pleased if Wanderers also get a win!”

Lewis, who is a member of the National Youth Theatre, said: “I’m excited about stepping out in front of all those fans and taking the penalty kick. I’ve not really played football before, so I’ve been doing plenty of practice to make sure I score the goal!”

Bolton Wanderers’ CEO Emma Beaugeard said: “Tony was a natural in front of the camera and as a club ambassador he’s always delighted to be involved with projects throughout our community.

“When we heard about the project we were only too pleased to help out Kyle and Bolton College.

“The University of Bolton Stadium is such an iconic venue and is at the heart of Bolton. We wish Kyle all the very best and we look forward to seeing the video.”
