A SPA hotel has revealed the results of a £1.4million refurbishment.

Bournemouth’s West Cliff Hotel has seen its reception, bar, lounge, restaurant and indoor pool refurbished.

The investment follows a buyout by the membership club Boundless.

The West Cliff’s new general manager, Tony Giauna, said there would be more improvements soon.

A new look for the spa area, refurbishment of the 83 rooms and further enhancements to the reception are also in the pipeline at the Durley Chine Road site.

Mr Giauna said: “We’re delighted to reveal the fruits of our labour over the last year as we continue to transform the West Cliff into an affordable oasis of calm in central sunny Bournemouth.

“With easy access to the beach and town centre, our guests can enjoy the local area but return to a tranquil setting complete with brand new leisure facilities.

“There aren’t many hotels in the area that can boast two swimming pools, a spa and gym as well as a relaxing conservatory and garden – and that makes it a hidden gem.

“When we took over, we knew there was work required to meet customer expectations and we’re committed to making the West Cliff Hotel the best it can possibly be.”

The refurbished restaurant offers a small seasonal menu ranging from fish and chips to pasta and salads, the hotel said.

Sunday brunch had become popular with locals and hotel guests, with a three-course menu plus prosecco for adults or milkshake for children.

The new look bar includes a cocktail menu and a gin menu, which will soon come with a pairing device to tell customers which Fever Tree tonic best accompanies their chosen gin.

Stays at the hotel start at £77 a night for a standard double room.
