SIXTH Formers at Accrington Academy have raised over £900 for Children in Need as part of a week-long fundraising campaign.

Members of the Student Union Team helped to raise £934.82 for charity by creating a fundraising campaign that everyone at the school could get involved in.

Among other things, there was a special non-uniform day for staff and students, games and activities including a penalty shoot-out and an obstacle course.

Discussing their fundraising success, Beth Kissock, Student President said: “Children in Need is a charity that we all jumped at the chance to raise money for, especially as proceeds go to local charities such as Nightsafe that house and support the young and homeless in our area.

"I’m unbelievably proud of the Accrington Academy students and I am more than delighted with the amount we have managed to raise. A big thank you also goes out to everybody who has contributed.”
