THE owner of an Indian takeaway shop in Oldham has been fined £720 after mouse droppings and dead insects were found in its kitchen food preparation area.
Malik Miah, 51, was also ordered to pay £1,150 costs and £72 to victim services for offences under EU food hygiene regulations at Spicey Bites at 294 Middleton Road.
On or about November 14, Miah failed to make sure the premises were kept in good repair and was further charged with failing to ensure adequate procedures were in place to control pests.
Miah, of Sterling Street, Oldham, appeared at Tameside Magistrates' Court yesterday (Wednesday, November 20) where he pleaded not guilty.
Justices found him guilty.
