Wall City Jazzmen visit the popular venue for the latest in the fortnightly live jazz sessions, starting a 7.45pm and concluding at 10.30pm. The band started way back in 1954 but there have been many changes to personnel by the ensemble, including singer Irene Martin, who joined in 2006. The band is now run by Alan Jeffs on guitar and bass.

The range of activities on offer includes behind the scenes tours to see the art collections and natural history collections of Gallery Oldham; a special display of the OMA building plans at Oldham Local Studies and Archives; songwriter Jay Stansfield will be in the building. This year's Chrsitmas Lghts switch on event in Shaw is going to be even bigger and better. There will be live music, Christmas market stalls with table top games. Act 1 - entertainment for children on stage, Santa’s Grotto in Royal British Legion and complementary refreshments, mascots, Oldham Scottish Pipe Band, bands and choirs at Playhouse 2 with complimentary mulled wine & mince pies, Festive Pony Rides, small Roundabout Rides and of course the Christmas Light Switch On.
