A SINGER went home with an armful of silverware after the finals of a popular East Lancashire music festival.

Evonne Beardsworth, 33, from Foulridge, won out in three vocal categories at the annual Luther Greenwood event in Colne.

She got the highest mark of the day in the art song class with Schubert’s Heldenroslein, won the musicals class with Out There from The Hunchback of Notre Dame then won the recital class before adding a second prize in operatic solo with Habanera from Carmen.

This resulted in the masters graduate picking up the Luther Greenwood Trophy for best overall results.

Pupils of Colne singing tutor David Wilkinson held their own with Joe Renshaw, Kate Overend, Tom Pickup and Adam Liversidge all excelling.
