A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a woman in her 20s was allegedly attacked in Southbourne during the summer.
Austin Roberts, of Shelley Gardens in Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court last week after an incident in the early hours of the morning of Sunday, August 25.
The defendant, 26, did not enter a plea to the charge against him. He was remanded into custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Winchester Crown Court on January 2.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Officers were called at around 1.05am on August 25 to a report of an assault in an address in Southbourne Grove.
"The complainant – a woman aged in her 20s – sustained bruises and cuts on her body and injuries to her head and neck. She was taken to hospital for treatment and discharged the following day."
A man was arrested on the day of the alleged incident. Roberts was charged on November 30.
