A MAN has been arrested over a pair of incidents involving women being attacked with knives in Oldham.
The 23-year-old has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in custody.
The first incident occurred at 6.30pm on Friday 1 November 2019, when a 61-year-old woman was stabbed on Longfield Crescent, Oldham. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is continuing her recovery at home.
The second incident, which police believe to be linked, took place on Wednesday 20 November 2019. On this occasion a 71-year-old woman was attacked by a man with a knife in an alleyway off Stoneleigh Street, Derker, Oldham. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was later discharged.
Detective Inspector Ben Cottam, of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “While we have arrested a man in connection with this incident, our investigation remains ongoing and we’d encourage anyone with information to contact police.”
