Home Instead Senior Care Oldham and Saddleworth recently launched its annual gift giving scheme, ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’, and Alt Academy in Oldham joined the campaign by creating beautiful Christmas cards for the elderly in the community.

The gift-giving scheme saw big-hearted members of the public kindly donate presents at donation stations across the local area which have been gift wrapped to be distributed over the Christmas period to local elderly residents around Oldham who might not otherwise receive a present on Christmas morning.

Talented students from Alt Academy designed wonderful Christmas cards, which will be attached to the generously donated gifts.

Tamsin Wood, Assistant Principal at Alt Academy, said: “The students were grateful and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to take part in Home Instead’s gift-giving campaign. They love the fact that their Christmas cards will be going to seniors in our local community and will help put a smile on their faces this Christmas.”

Bobbie Harvey, business development manager at Home Instead Oldham and Saddleworth, has been organising the campaign.

She said: “The team and I would like to thank Pearson Solicitors and Millercare Oldham for supporting our ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ campaign by holding our donation stations at their premises, as well as to Alt Academy for the beautiful cards the students have designed.

“We would also like to thank Jill Foot, who made some gorgeous hampers, Liz Rooke and everyone at Community Brew Greenfield who raised £187.50 at their coffee morning and also donated lots of gifts, as well as to Alan O'Connor from Workflo Solutions, who donated a big hamper of food.

“It’s an honour to be able to help bring together the young and the old to help support the elderly in our community who may feel isolated and alone this Christmas.”
