IT may be pretty gloomy outside but there’s plenty of laughter in the air to lighten the post Christmas mood.

Some of the country’s leading stand-ups are heading to Oldham over the next few weeks.

Tomorrow night laughter lovers have a choice of two shows.

At the White Hart at Lydgate, Saddleworth Round Table have organised a special comedy fundraiser. Compere Mick Ferry will introduce Daliso Chaponda who after finishing third on Britain’s Got Talent in 2017 has had his own headline tour around the UK and also his own show on Radio 4.

Limning up alongside Daliso will be Dave Johns who played the lead in Ken Loach’s award-winning film I Daniel Blake and more recently starred in Fishermen’s Friends.

Dave Johns and Daliso Chaponda will also be performing at a comedy night at St Anne’s ARLFC on Higginshaw Road tomorrow night for a night of comedy compered by Rob Riley and also featuring Sarah Callaghan. Details from 0161 678 8660.

On Saturday night, the Royal George on Manchester Road, Greenfield will be the venue for the first Off the Rails Comedy Club of 2020.

MC Rob Riley will introduce Dave Johns, Kelly Convey and Britain’s Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy. The night will raise funds for Saddleworth Rangers.

On Saturday, January 26, Mick Ferry will take on the MC role and introduce Rich Wilson, Christian Reilly and Donald Mackerel.

The comedy club will host a fundraiser for Greenfield Primary School PTA on Saturday, February 8 when radio presenter and stand-up Justin Moorhouse will be among the guests. Rob Riley will also introduce Mark Nelson and Wilson Milton.

On Saturday, February 23, Justin Moorhouse will take on the compere duties and oversee a line-up which includes Troy Hawke, Paul Pirie and Daniel Nicholas and then on Saturday, March 7 he will introduce Tom Wrigglesworth, Tony Law and Lindsey Santoro.

Later this year, Off the Rails will be hosting two special one-off shows. On Sunday, April 26 Shappi Khorsandi will present her Skittish Warrior show and then on Sunday, June 28, Paul Sinha - also known for his work on The Chase will introduce his new show, Hazy Little Thing Called Love.
