A MAN of 38 is fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed at a home in Oldham.

Police were to the quiet Howardian Close cul de sac called shortly after 9.20am on Sunday (January 12) after reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim was airlifted to hospital where he remains with life-threatening injuries.

Two women aged 50 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning.

A police cordon remained at the property yesterday afternoon while forensic teams and detectives carry out their investigations.

One local resident told The Oldham Times he saw forensic teams entering the property.

"I could tell something serious had happened, there were so many police officers there and the helicopter," he said.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Shortly after 9.20am on Sunday 12 January 2020, police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed at a property on Howardian Close, Oldham.

"Emergency services attended with the support of an air ambulance and a 38-year-old man has been taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"Two women – aged 50 and 29 – have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"They remain in custody for questioning.

"A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing."
