GRITTERS were out in full force across the borough overnight.
Bury Council's team of gritters took to the streets last night as road temperatures dropped.
The council tweeted at about 5pm yesterday: "It's getting chillier out there, so we'll be gritting from 6pm."
The Met Office website states that the temperature fell to about four degrees last night.
When its full winter service is in operation, the council treats all roads on its gritting routes when temperatures fall below freezing.
The decision on whether or not to grit is based on the Open Road Winter Forecast Service, provided by the Met Office.
Once a decision to grit has been taken the target is to grit all routes within five hours.
