MAGISTATES have granted an application for police to hold on to thousands of pounds of seized cash from two Oldham people under legislation aimed at confiscating the profits of crime.
Tameside justices sitting on Tuesday (February 17), ruled that £7,480 found on Rayyan Ali, 20, of Fletcher Close, Chadderton, can be detained for another six months.
Greater Manchester Police was also granted permission to continue to hold £5,000 from Shaheen Akhtar, 40, of Lorne Street, Oldham, also for a further six months.
The orders were made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
