A GIANT Goose - and ambassador for global Scandi furniture brand JYSK - swooped into Oldham to take a look at the town as preparations for opening the new store at Alexandra Retail Park gather momentum in the run up to the store’s opening at 9am on Saturday March 7.

The JYSK Goose partnered the Oldham Times for a Random Acts of Kindness tour that saw local shoppers receive "a hug, a mug and a rug" from JYSK as the store group said "Hello Oldham" as part of JYSK’s warm welcome.

JYSK chose Oldham as one of its stand-out locations and bosses said they were delighted when the opportunity to open a store in the town arose. The arrival of the Scandinavian store created 10 new jobs for the town, with most of them filled by local people. The store’s opening weekend will see prices of up to 75% off and customers are advised to arrive ahead of the 9am opening in order to take advantage of the best of the celebration weekend’s offers.

The goose was a big hit with little ones who were keen to hug the huge cuddly bird and pose for the camera. JYSK has stores worldwide and Oldham is its 20th UK store. It sells everything for your home and the company is expert in Scandinavian Sleeping & Living. Plenty of additional surprises will mark the opening weekend.
