AN ambitious dental surgery in Oldham is branching out with new town centre premises which have been officially opened by the borough's deputy mayor.

Cllr Jenny Harrison was on hand recently to give the civic seal of approval to the new Ascroft Medical Centre in Clegg Street.

She was given a tour of the state-of-the-art facility by founding directors Krzysztof Zemlik and Dr Piotr Kieruzel and introduced to staff and patients, as they outlined their future hopes for the business.

The deputy mayor was also able to road-test their new dentist's chairs as part of her visit.

First established in April 2015, the surgery was launched to cater for the dentistry needs of the Polish community in the Greater Oldham area.

And according to a report in the parliamentary review last year, focusing on examples of best practice across the UK, the outfit found a niche, confirming a patient list then of around 7,000 and a 25-strong workforce.

Mr Zemlik said: “We were absolutely delighted that the deputy mayor of Oldham accepted our invitation to launch our new medical centre.

"Ascroft Medical is a fast-growing medical clinic with an ever-expanding remit and we are keen to be part of the wider community of Oldham.

"We are very proud to have recently been finalists in two categories in the National Dentistry Awards.

"We offer free medical information open days from time to time and we are keen to share these with as many people as possible."

Their services cover the orthodontic, endodontic and cosmetic disciplines, with 2D and 3D dentail radiology and 3D and 4D ultrasound scan capabilities also on their radar.

Other minor surgical procedures, maternity and midwife services and oral surgery is also on offer.

In their parliamentary review appearance, Dr Kieruzel and Mr Kemlik said that the practice had roughly 200 patients a month coming on board.

The pair added: "This rapid growth does not come at the expense of our ability to refine and improve our existing services. At the governance level, we’ve introduced a monthly business and clinical dashboard for review, which allows us to see precisely where things are going well and where we could do with improvement.

"This is a transparent management tool shared and discussed with all staff and following the inspection areas used by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission to ensure the quality and safety of our services.

"There’s a specific methodology behind this, which, on the business side, reveals metrics relating to satisfaction, policies and procedures; while, on the medical side, we can trace our performance in the domains of infection control, medical notes and medicine management, among other things."
