FORMER Rovers loanee Kasey Palmer could find himself back in the Bristol City side at Ewood Park tomorrow.

Having spent the first half of last season in East Lancashire, the 23-year-old made the move to Ashton Gate on loan in January 2019 before making the switch from Chelsea permanent last summer.

Having started the season as integral to Lee Johnson’s plans, Palmer has not played a single minute of the last three games. But the Robins boss insists the attacking midfielder can be a key figure going forwards.

“The last two weeks have probably been the best he’s trained since he’s been here,” Johnson told Bristol Live.

“If I could give him a pill, a limitless pill, and say ‘right, lock that in’, then yes, he’s definitely very close to getting on the pitch.

“Being honest, and I’ve had this conversation with Kasey, it’s that trust.

“I’m the one that’s paid to pick a team and with Kasey, if your life depended on scoring a goal, without question of a doubt, you’d probably have Kasey in the team.

“I’m desperate for him to do well.

“He’s still a young player and he is a young player, not just in age, but there is still a bit of maturation there, on and off the pitch, to come. But he’s an extremely talented kid and one that we believe can have a big impact at the football club moving forward.”
