A WOMAN of 35 has been ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work after failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions of changes of personal circumstances which would affect her entitlement to a carer's allowance.

Joanne Louise Brophy, of Collingwood Way, Oldham, committed the offence between August 23, 2010 and March 17, 2019.

She failed to notify the authorities promptly that she was working and her earnings were above the permitted limit for that type of benefit.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £90 to victim services.
