A PRIEST whose church was daubed with paint by vandals at the beginning of Easter week said he would like to talk to the perpetrators.

Father Callum Brown of St Edward's Church, Lees, helped in the clean up operation which saw windows covered with white painted graffiti.

He said:” I'm greatly disappointed by this senseless act of sacrilege. However, I can't help but feel sorry for the individuals who did this.

“I'd like to meet them and would make myself available if they would like to talk anything through and find it in their hearts to apologise.

"I'd ask the parents of the kids that make up the 'L block posse’ to take these young people in hand and not allow them to wander the streets of Lees wreaking havoc late at night during this particularly difficult time.

“It is Holy week, the most sacred week of the church's year."

He added: “It is, therefore, imperative we forgive the perpetrators in the manner of our Lord, who forgives us our sins and transgressions so freely.”
